Options Transport Service

Options Transport is a new service provided by the Red Cross on behalf of the City of Onkaparinga.
 

Options Transport assists residents who have no other means of transport to remain independent. The service is available for eligible residents to attend medical appointments at facilities such as Flinders Medical Centre, the Repatriation General Hospital and metropolitan specialists. Options Transport can also assist with transport for social activities, visiting family members and shopping.

The lead feature takes a close look at the introduction of Laughter Bosses and Elder Clowns into residential aged care. While this might appear to be light hearted the scientific rigour behind the study has won it international attention.

Community Transport Central Point of Contact

The City of Onkaparinga has a new service for City of Onkaparinga residents, offering a coordinated central point of contact for information, referral and advocacy regarding transport options for all community transport enquiries. The aim is to minimise the confusion, conflicting information and number of phone calls an individual needs to make to receive the service that they need. Staff will be able to determine the best options for the caller and refer directly to the appropriate agency. Contact Jo Maiden or Sam Berry on 1300 365 729.

Red Cross Transport

What is Red Cross Transport service?

Red Cross Transport service enables people who have no access to other means of transportation to attend medical appointments.

There is also limited transport available for people to attend social and family occasions.

The Transport service operates across the Adelaide metropolitan area, as well as in the South East Country and Eyre Peninsula regions, with regional offices located in Mt Gambier and Pt Lincoln.

ECH Southern Day Program for older people Aged Care provider ECH has a Day Program of social activities in Happy Valley for older people in the southern suburbs who may be feeling lonely or for various reasons are looking for an opportunity to connect with other people.
