It's hard to believe that it is December already and the festive season is upon us! It's been a year of change, which has been both exciting and challenging. The SSRG would like to thank everyone who has supported the project in 2013 and we look forward to an exciting 2014. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all! We are looking forward to 2014 and continuing working together, sharing more highlights and celebrating strengths and innovation.

Commonwealth Home Support Program (HSP)

The National Aged Care Alliance is a representative body of peak national organisations involved in the aged care sector.
They have produced a paper (September 2013) outlining the proposed development and design of the Home Support Program.

Below is an extract from the paper and the link to read it in its entirety.

”This paper provides advice on the development and design of the Commonwealth Home Support Program (HSP) announced as part of the Living Longer Living Better (LLLB) aged care reforms. The HSP is to commence operation from 1 July 2015 and will combine the existing Home and Community Care (HACC) Program, National Respite for Carers Program (NRCP), Assistance for Care and Housing for the Aged (ACHA) and the Day Therapy Centre (DTC) Program.

Finding Aged Care Services Made Easy
Seniors Southern Services Directory

Due to customer demand the Southern Services Reform Group are developing the Aged Care Directory app for Android phones and tablets.  It can already be accessed on Apple’s iPhone and iPad.

The Seniors Southern Services Directory app is free and promises to deliver useful, reliable and comprehensive information.
 
 
National Ageing Research Institute
Healthy Ageing

This organisation, based in Victoria, has some useful information about ageing well and improving the quality of life of older people. In particular they have an interesting healthy ageing quiz which may be useful to help people identify and make positive lifestyle choices.
